Rain Gardens

Landmark Landscaping has been working with Raindog Designs for several years installing rain gardens in the Puget Sound region. This is an exciting new green initiative being promoted by many towns and cities across the country. Landmark has installed rain gardens in dozens of neighborhoods in Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup, and Kirkland.

Check out the City of Tacoma’s website for more information about rain gardens in Tacoma; or click here to get information and a Rain Garden Handbook (provided by WSU).

Rain gardens keep pollutants out of the stormwater system. As defined in Wikipedia: "A rain garden is a planted depression that allows rainwater runoff from impervious urban areas like roofs, driveways, walkways, parking lots, and compacted lawn areas the opportunity to be absorbed. Rain gardens can cut down on the amount of pollution reaching creeks and streams by up to 30%."

Check out this link to see our rain garden project in Puyallup. It was huge success with lots of community participation!
